Coalition gives endorsements in Richmond

The Coalition for a Greater Richmond yesterday announced it was backing two candidates in the five-way race for mayor, attorney Robert J. Grey Jr. and City Council President William J. Pantele.

The coalition, a political-action committee focused on regionalism, also listed the candidates it is backing in the City Council and School Board elections Nov. 4.

For the council, the coalition endorsed incumbent Bruce W. Tyler in the 1st District; candidate Charles Samuels in the 2nd, incumbent Chris A. Hilbert in the 3rd, incumbent Kathy C. Graziano in the 4th, challenger Mark Brandon in the 5th, incumbent Ellen F. Robertson in the 6th, incumbent Delores L. McQuinn in the 7th, incumbent Reva M. Trammell in the 8th and incumbent Douglas G. Conner Jr. in the 9th. Tyler, Graziano and Robertson are running unopposed.

For the School Board, the coalition endorsed incumbent Kimberly Bridges in the 1st District, incumbent Lisa Dawson in the 2nd, candidate Norma Murdoch-Kitt in the 3rd, candidate Adria Scott in the 4th, incumbent Betsy Carr in the 5th, incumbent Chandra Smith in the 6th, candidate Donald Coleman in the 7th, candidate Charles Willis in the 8th and incumbent Evette L. Wilson in the 9th. Bridges, Murdoch-Kitt and Wilson are running unopposed.
