Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was out of state for at least parts of 12 days in September, according to a travel log that his office released late yesterday.

According to the schedule, Kaine was in Texas for all or parts of Sept. 9 through Sept. 12, and he was in New York for all or parts of Sept. 21 and Sept. 22. He also visited Connecticut on the 21st, and he traveled to Vermont on Sept. 2.

Five of his out-of-state trips were to Washington.

The full list represents "a combination of state work, work in his role as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and personal time," states the release from Lynda Tran, Kaine's communications director.

The office does not give further details on how much of Kaine's travel was national political business or personal.
