From Alexandria to Richmond to Roanoke, the three Democratic candidates for governor are trying to win late converts for tomorrow’s primary.
Terry McAuliffe of McLean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is launching a Richmond canvass at a West Franklin Street coffee shop this afternoon.
McAuliffe started his day by greeting voters in Norfolk. This evening he will launch his voter canvass in Alexandria.
Former Del. Brian J. Moran is closing out his campaign today with a rally in Market Square at Alexandria City Hall in his hometown.
State Sen. R. Creigh Deeds campaigns today in Danville, Martinsville, Bristol and Roanoke before finishing in Charlottesville.
In addition to a nominee for governor, voters tomorrow also will choose either Jody Wagner or Mike Signer as the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor.
Virginia has 5.07 million registered voters, a net increase of 38,027 since the presidential election in November.
Virginians do not register by party, so anyone can vote in the Democratic primary. Polls are open tomorrow from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
In parts of Hanover County, voters will have to pick either a Republican primary ballot or a Democratic ballot. Three candidates are seeking the Republican nomination to run for the seat of retiring Del. Frank D. Hargrove Sr.
Voters may cast a ballot in the Democratic primary or the Republican primary, but not both.

Nice choice of photos from the clowns at the RTD.
oneuser- Some people actually vote for a candidate for views other than those of immigration. Education, gun rights/control, abortion, death penalty, fiscal management, and many more come to mind.
If you’re entire opinion on voting for someone hinges on his or her view of illegal immigrants, then it doesn’t matter who you vote for- fat chance any of them will actually do anything about it anyways. After all… who would mow their lawns and clean the governors mansion?
oneuser asked ‘ What are their plans or campaign promises to deal with the illegal aliens in Virginia?????????‘ My guess is they plan on registering illegal aliens to vote in the fall…
cib258, thanks for your research. I was hoping that maybe one of the candidates had something to say now, since they are running for office now. History is just that history. I guess campaign promises are just that too. What are their plans or campaign promises to deal with the illegal aliens in Virginia?????????
Poster ‘oneuser:‘Learn to use the Internet, would ya?
It took me two seconds to learn that, according to a profile in the Washington Post, “Deeds voted to designate English as the official language of Virginia, to make illegal immigrants ineligible for state or local benefits, and against a bill to allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state college tuition rates.“
Deeds is a moderate. He respects the right to own a gun. But, he is strong pro-education.
How can anyone choose between them since NONE have given their views on illegal aliens here in Virginia. Will any take the oath of office and capture the illegal alien felons? Or will they look the other way and let big business hire illegal aliens and cost virginia taxpayers their jobs?
Looks as though Moran has conceded the race already! Creigh Deeds deserves everyone’s serious consideration in the primary tomorrow.
