McAuliffe outlines economic plan

It’s the third chapter of a book that might be titled “See Terry Run.“

Terry McAuliffe, one of three candidates for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in the June 9 primary, is in Richmond this morning, spotlighting the latest component of his economic plan. This time, McAuliffe is talking about economic security, including protections on homeownership, retirement benefits, easing loan burdens for college graduates and a prohibition on pay day lending.

Speaking to about 30 supporters at a union hall in North Side, McAuliffe said his administration would crack down on financing practices that reward mortgage companies at the expense of homeowners.

McAuliffe also says he favors programs making it easier for low income people to finance their retirements. And,

McAuliffe believes recent college graduates should be able to erase a chunk of their student loans through a service program that, among other things, steers teachers into areas of the state where they are badly needed.

Finally, McAuliffe wants Virginia to prohibit high-cost instant loans, such as payday, open-ended and car-title loans.

He says they can be an unfair burden on the poor and uneducated.

Previously, McAuliffe announced proposals to promote green energy and job creation.

Republicans have started to increase their membership rolls, and are becoming “grassroots” active.

Quite a few conservatives on the sidelines are now getting in the game.

I am only stating what I see, hear, and read. My only suggestion to Democrats, go “Blue Dawg”, or prepare to be voted out.

Seriously. A Moderate Republican, and a Conservative Democrat can get more accomplished in a day that the extremes in either position can in a year.

Grrreat - another smug come-here liberal trying to “effect social and political change” in this country and MY state (a Kaine straight-out-of-the-DNC-talking-points quote). Enough is enough - McDonnell has this in the bag. The three dems in this race are quibbling like a bunch of third graders while the Republican party is united behind McDonnell.

(begin sarcasm) Well if the firefighters endorsed him he must be the best man for the job! (end sarcasm)  By the way, that was a firefighters UNION that endorsed him.  They don’t speak for all firefighters.  Imagine that, a UNION endorsing a democrat!

So Dave you think Terry is going to win too? You just posted “when Terry gets elected,“ right?
All right way to go Dave. Even you can see that he is the right man for the job.
Even the fire fighters have endorsed Terry McAuliffe. Terry for Governor!

TM wants to do away with pay-day loans. That’s not being a governor, that’s being a Nanny.

I guess two adults cannot make a contract for a legal loan of money anymore.

TM - if you become governor, do us a favor, don’t try to manage so much of our lives.

gqrich: Whassup! The only person calling me perfect this week has been you, so I’m sorry your bubble’s been burst. You’ll get over it, but you owe me since your writing has improved so much since I started ‘helping’ you. That’s my service for the week, and I didn’t even need to get paid by Americorps to do it! I tell you what. When Terry gets elected, why don’t you go right on over and sign up for one of those $12-15K jobs in ‘badly needed areas’. That’s just what we need. Pay people LESS for doing the harder jobs.

More pandering from a professional politician with no experience with, knowledge of, or sincere concern for good government in Virginia. Rather than elect another professional politician seeking to add another line to his resume on his way up the political ladder, McAuliff’s candidacy should be summarily rejected by all Virginians in favor of one of the many candidates who’ve actually work in and for the good of the Commonwealth. Party affiliation shouldn’t matter - but demonstrated concern for the good of all Virginia’s citizens and a decmonstrated commitment to sound business practices must.

‘Graduates should be able to erase a chunk of their student loans through a servive program.‘ Like Americorps?
Gosh Dave didn’t you mean service? What is servive? Guess you aren’t so perfect after all.
Go Terry McAuliffe! He is what Virginia needs to move into the future and leave these outdated, do nothing, change nothing policies in this state from prior Republican governors like Gilmore. McDonnell is just another typical republican, tax cuts for the wealthy and big business so they can continue laying people off and outsourcing jobs to India and pocket the tax cuts to buy a bigger house for themselves.

Looks like a good start to taking Virginia from being one of the most business-friendly states (that Warner and Kaine both love to brag about) to one of the most unfriendly.  I guess the cracking down on “financing practices that reward mortgage companies at the expense of homeowners” (also known as profit) will somehow attract more banks to Virginia?  While you’re at it, Terry,  just force all banks to be non-profit so that banks won’t be “rewarded” at the expense of homeowners.  I will never understand liberals’ disdain for wealth and success.  I guess it’s easier to hate the wealthy and successful than it is to try to become wealthy and successful

Between Warner and kaine we are wasting so much money on feel good programs and bothced social experimentation that we could probably cut the budget drastically by cutting out some of the ones they started in the last 8 years.
this state will go deeper in debt and see more people on the dole with another of these Democratic clones.
