State Sen. R. Creigh Deeds of Bath County is the Democratic nominee for governor, winning a runaway victory over former Del. Brian J. Moran of Alexandria and Terry McAuliffe of McLean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

With 69.8 percent of precincts reporting, Deeds had 101,278 votes (49.88 percent) to 53,117 for McAuliffe (26.16 percent) and 48,632 for Moran (23.95 percent).

Deeds’ victory sets up a rematch of the 2005 race for attorney general in which Republican Bob McDonnell won by 360 votes in the closest statewide election in state history.

The Associated Press has declared Jody M. Wagner the winner of the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.

With 48 percent of precincts reporting, Wagner had 94,108 votes, or 73.46 percent, to 28,267 (22.06 percent) for A. Michael Signer.

Wagner will take on Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, the Republican nominee who is seeking a second term.

I am happy that Mr.Deeds got the nomination. I am not against a person born out of state holding public office in Virginia,  but McAuliffe seemed to have more of an agenda than is good for Virginia…

Thank goodness, we’ve got a great common sense democratic centrist that is concerned about the well being of all Virginians. Now let’s get out and work hard for all Commonwealth Democrats to insure we don’t have to endure any more Republican corporate welfare and self serving corruption. It’s time for truth and justice and an end to corporate and personal greed.

If you have to have a Democrat, Deeds is the best of the three to choose from. But Jody Wagner is dangerous. She helped Warner and Kaine put this state $3 billion-plus in the hole, then resigned when the going got tough. Can’t respect someone who runs from tough times.

I’m not a democrat but they are the best choice if it has to be a democrat.  We don’t need carpetbaggers and flaming liberals destroying Virginia.

Congratulations to Mr. Deeds.  Virginians will be wise to elect him - he is a Virginian; he is able to work with people in both parties, and he will work for the best interest of the entire state.

Congratulations to Creigh Deeds and Jody Wagner. The two make a strong Democratic ticket. You have my vote and let’s keep Virginia blue and beat McDonnell/Bolling big time in November.
