Two special events are in store for the World Affairs Council of Greater Richmond.

Pierre Vimont, France's ambassador to the United States, will speak at a special lunch Oct. 31.

Charles S. Robb, former Virginia governor and U.S. senator, and John Adams, chairman and CEO of the Martin Agency, will be honored at the organization's annual dinner Nov. 12.

Vimont will explain how the U.S. and France have cooperated on the world financial crisis, the war in Georgia and other recent events since the election of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The lunch will be held at the Omni Richmond Hotel at noon Oct. 31. Tickets cost $45.

At the Nov. 12 awards dinner, Robb will receive the council's Woodrow Wilson Award for International Engagement in recognition of his public service. Adams will receive the George C. Marshall Award in recognition of his contributions to the standing of Richmond and Virginia in international commerce.

The awards dinner also includes presenting a Virginia Teacher of the Year award to a high-school or middle-school teacher for instruction in global and international affairs.

The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Tickets are $140 for individuals or $2,000 for corporate tables.

To reserve places for either event, call the World Affairs Council at (804) 644-0083.
