R&B singer Usher’s divorce from his wife is final. Jada Hudspeth, a spokeswoman for Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia, said a final decree in the divorce case was issued Wednesday. Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, filed for divorce from Tameka Raymond on June 12. Lawyers for both declined to comment yesterday. The couple have two young sons, Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. The couple married in August 2007 in a lavish ceremony just outside Atlanta in front of about 200 people.

JACKSON, Miss.—Morgan Freeman has settled a lawsuit related to a 2008 car accident that seriously injured him and a passenger, according to court records posted yesterday. Terms of the settlement were not released. Demaris Meyer filed a federal lawsuit against the Academy Award-winning actor in February, claiming Freeman had been drinking the night of the accident last summer and was negligent when the car ran off the side of a rural highway near his Mississippi Delta home.

Afun tone is undermined by disjointed storytelling in George Clooney’s “The Men Who Stare at Goats,“ and it all starts with the disclaimer that opens the movie: “More of this is true than what you might imagine.“ This wry comment serves as a nod and a wink from the filmmakers, a license to do what they will to Jon Ronson’s amusing nonfiction account of the U.S. military’s hush-hush research into psychic warfare and espionage.

What button, on whose box, did Kelly push to get the money to make this awful, preposterous thriller? If Hollywood were a three-strikes-you’re-out kind of place, Kelly would be flirting with permanent banishment. What makes a restaurant stand out (in a good way) isn’t usually what it’s lacking. However, in the case of Plaza Mexico, the new south-of-the-border eatery on Main Street in the Fan District, the lack of almost anything Mexican-themed is exactly what caught my eye. Thank goodness it did. For students of 20th-century history, the title of this book is shorthand for tragedy and disaster. It outlines the self-deceptive, smug and misguided efforts of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to appease the territorial aims of the greatest criminal in recent history, German dictator Adolf Hitler. With Chamberlain in the lead, Britain and France ceded to Hitler significant chunks of Czechoslovakia without the Germans having to take military action and without the participation of the Czech government in the dismemberment of its country.

Adele doesn’t like to leave the house, though Henry wishes they’d get out more. She works at home, selling vitamins over the phone, and hasn’t really dated since Henry’s dad divorced her. But Henry, who is about to enter the seventh grade, needs a new pair of pants. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The answers to these, and other questions less biblical, can be found in “El Día de los Muertos,“ the Latin Ballet of Virginia’s lively artistic interpretation of the traditional, Aztec-based Mexican festival, the Day of the Dead. The dancers set up an elaborate and authentic looking altar, featuring candles, photos of loved ones, sugar skulls, marigolds and other traditional decorations. This forms the background for such lovely rituals as “Iluminemos el Camino” (“Let Us Light the Path”) in which elements of African movement combine with a modern interpretation of a candlelight vigil—substituting glowing pods of light which the women palm gracefully—and an enticing percussive score.

In the long history of novels, love triangles have rarely ended well. The one that drives Paul Auster’s fascinating new novel, “Invisible,“ certainly doesn’t. But it began so casually that now, 40 years later, Auster’s protagonist has trouble recalling the details of that first fateful meeting. Adam Walker had been a Columbia University student and an aspiring poet when he met Rudolf Born, a French political scientist serving a one-year professorship at the university. They chatted about various hot-button issues—the Vietnam War, the JFK assassination—while Born’s black-clad companion, Margot, stared “into space as if her central mission in life was to look bored.“

Playwright Neil LaBute is known for exposing the bad behavior and bad motives that people like to hide. In plays such as “In the Company of Men” and “Fat Pig,“ his characters display the secret thoughts and cruelties that we suspect are lurking in the worst of us—if not in all of us. In “This Is How It Goes,“ the 2005 LaBute play now at Firehouse Theatre Project, there are breathtaking moments when the three main characters—who are in an interracial love triangle—reveal their racist, sexist, classist truths. Not breathtakingly beautiful, but breathtakingly ugly. And startlingly courageous in their way.

Aman pleaded guilty yesterday to resisting police outside the set of a Miley Cyrus movie on the Georgia coast after prosecutors dropped charges that he tried to stalk the teen pop star. Mark McLeod, who told police he was engaged to marry the 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” star, was sentenced to two years probation and was ordered to undergo a mental-health evaluation. LOS ANGELES Michael Jackson’s This Is It” comes too late in the year to be considered for a documentary Oscar, but the film about the late King of Pop’s preparations for a series of comeback concerts could qualify for other Hollywood honors, including the Academy Award for best picture. The film, which opened around the globe Tuesday and Wednesday, has already earned rousing praise from fans and critics, who say it restores Jackson’s reputation as a world-class entertainer.

Roy DeCarava, a photographer whose black-and-white images captured Harlem’s everyday life and the jazz greats who performed there, has died at age 89. Born in Harlem, DeCarava was considered to be among the first to give serious photographic attention to the black experience in America. DeCarava worked at a time of enormous creative energy in Harlem, whose many residents included prominent writers, artists and musicians. He spent years capturing candid shots of Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane and other jazz musicians—many taken in smoke-filled nightclubs.

“Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”: This is the third and barely funny installment in the series of animated features about the prehistoric adventures of Manny (voice of Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo), a woolly mammoth, saber-toothed tiger and ground sloth stuck in a snow-bound world. Simon Pegg makes a nice acerbic addition to the cast as Buck, a one-eyed weasel who carries a sharpened dino tooth for a dagger and acts as a guide when our heroes discover a tropical world of dinosaurs under all that ice. 1:27. Rated PG (cartoon violence and toilet humor).
