Indoor football league to add Richmond franchise  04/09/09 3:08 PM

The American Indoor Football Association announced today that it will start a Richmond franchise during the 2010 season. The unnamed team will play at the Richmond Coliseum. This is the third indoor football team attempting to take root in Richmond. The Speed lasted from 2000-2003, and the Bandits played in 2005 and 2006. AIFL commissioner John Morris said this league will succeed where the others failed because of tight budgetary controls.
