On a clear day in Alaska Robert E. Sears of Midlothian, a retired Chesterfield County schoolteacher, caught a clear shot of the peak of Mount McKinley from a school bus stop in Denali National Park in Alaska in 2004. “This trip for me completed a childhood dream of visiting all of the states,“ Sears said. “Our bus driver told us that this was the clearest it had been since bus trips started that season. Native Americans call this peak Denali, ‘The Great One.‘ I like that. To me, it was a truly sacred spot. This is the highest peak in North America but its beauty rivals higher peaks in Asia.“
