Two sought in Richmond ATM holdup  11/23/09 12:58 PM

Richmond Police are looking for two men who robbed a customer at a Bank of America branch at Broad and Robinson streets last night. A man at the ATM behind the bank was approached by two men with a gun just before 10 p.m., said police spokesman James Mercante. The pair robbed the man of an undisclosed amount of money and left. The victim was uninjured.

Crooks set sights on bank ATMs Stop and look before inserting your card into an ATM machine. Crooks have been tampering with automated teller machines around the world—and in Virginia, striking last summer in Hampton Roads and leaving behind 100 victims including those from Richmond and Chesterfield County. The victims were robbed of about $500,000, according to the Secret Service in Richmond. An investigation is ongoing.

Chesterfield police seek four males in bank-card fraud  08/15/09 12:01 AM

Chesterfield County police are looking for four males accused of using bank card information to purchase items and withdraw cash from automated teller machines in the Chester area and along Interstate 95. Police say the men captured the bank card data using a “skimmer” device placed on a BB&T Bank ATM at 12840 Jefferson Davis Highway on July 25. A skimming device is disguised to look like ATM equipment and typically is mounted on the front of the machine.

Two rob motorist in Henrico  12/29/08 12:01 AM

A man was robbed at gunpoint early yesterday morning in what Henrico County police are calling a highway robbery. The robbery took place about 1:45 a.m. after the victim drove up to a bank machine at the Shoppes at CrossRidge, off Staples Mill Road north of Hungary Road in Glen Allen. The bank machine wasn’t working, and the man drove out of the shopping center, said Henrico police Lt. Doug Barker.
