Boys soccer: St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes 4, Benedictine 2
ALEXANDRIA—St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes scored two goals early in the first half and again in the second half to defeat Benedictine 4-2 and advance to the semifinals of VISAA boys soccer tournament. The Saints meet Collegiate tomorrow at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond. Cohen Bond, Cal Perfall, John Quarles and Peter Voth scored for SSSA, which took fewer shots but made the most of their opportunities.

Jonathan Reardon scored two goals as Benedictine (10-6-4) shut out Bishop Sullivan in the first round of the VIS tournament. The Benedictine defense didn’t allow a single shot on goal. Football: Woodberry Forest 16, Benedictine 7
Woodberry Forest used the leg of Layton Brown to get past host Benedictine yesterday. Brown connected on all three field goal attempts as the Tigers improved to 5-1. Ed Reynolds rushed 37 times for 187 yards and a score for the Tigers. Michael Pilot (11 tackles) and Clayton Navarre (nine tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery) led the Benedictine (5-3) defense as Greg Petrohovich threw for 77 yards and a touchdown on 7 for 23 passing. Petrohovich also added 36 yards on the ground for the Cadets.

Greg Petrohovich hit Drew Petrohovich with a touchdown pass with six minutes to go to complete a comeback and give the Cadets their fifth straight win. Quassim Ghaaffaar had two touchdowns in the second quarter and Faton Bauta a 60-yard touchdown run to give Poly Prep, the top-ranked team in New York City, a 20-0 lead in the third quarter.

McGee propels Cougars
ALEXANDRIA—Jake McGee completed 25 of 36 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns to lead Collegiate to a 23-7 victory over Episcopal yesterday. McGee connected with Alex Newsome on scores of 5 and 10 yards and with Russell Harper on a 2-yard TD. Newsome had 10 receptions for 113 yards, and Harper made five catches for 55 yards for the Cougars (4-0).

R.J. Price rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, and returned a punt 47 yards as Benedictine shut out Flint Hill (0-4). Price ran for a 5-yard score for the Cadets (4-2), who totaled 332 offensive yards. Greg Petrovich ran for a touchdown and threw for two more in the third quarter to give the Cadets a homecoming win over the Seahorses. The game was in the balance after Taylor Byrd connected with Patrick Young for a 4-yard scoring pass that brought Christchurch (1-2) to a 9-6 halftime deficit. Greg Petrohovich threw for 243 yards but he put the Cadets (3-2) in control with a 1-yard touchdown pass. Greg Petrohovich then found his favorite target Rashad Stallings for a 56 yard touchdown strike. Stallings finished with 3 catches for 141 yards. Greg Petrohovich then found his brother Drew Petrohovich for an 18-yard touchdown pass.
