Twin brothers sought in an assault that was followed by a string of shootings in Blackstone have turned themselves in, Police Chief Nicholas C. Kuzmiak said today.

Dr. Waverly M. Cole, retired anesthesiologist, dies at 80
Dr. Waverly Manson Cole agreed on the spot when it was suggested that he donate his collection of 19th-century Bohemian glass, Meissen porcelain figurines and English pottery. The 500-plus pieces are now part of The Cole Gallery at Longwood University and an expansive legacy of giving by the retired anesthesiologist. Dr. Cole died at age 80 on Friday after a battle with cancer.

Marines, sailors training in Va.
A Marine expeditionary unit deployed to Fort Pickett is conducting nearly two weeks of training in and around populated areas in Virginia. Most of the 2,200 Marines and sailors from the Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit will train at Pickett, but small groups—80 to 100 Marines—will perform three exercises at other locations, according to the 22nd’s spokesman, Capt. Clark Carpenter.
