Football: Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 33, Roanoke Catholic 6
Austin Wingfield finished 8 of 14 for 127 yards and two TDs in leading Blessed Sacrament Huguenot over Roanoke Catholic. Chris Howard rushed for 52 yards and two scores for the Knights (7-2), and had 24 yards receiving and a TD. Defensively, Blessed Sacrament Huguenot forced four turnovers, two interceptions and had two fumble recoveries. John Moore made 10 tackles and Howard added eight. Marquis Smith contributed two catches for 67 yards, and interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot rolls to easy win
As the steady mist fell through the finger-numbing air at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot last night, Mike Henderson assembled his charges and gave his honest assessment of their 46-18 victory over Fuqua. “It wasn’t pretty,“ the veteran coach said, “but we played hard. “We always play hard.“ The Falcons might debate him on the “wasn’t pretty” part.

Football: Blessed Sacrament 35, Brunswick Academy 7
Deon Watts and Chris Howard each scored two touchdowns to lead Knights to a VCC win. Watts, who had three carries for 65 yards, returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a score then hit paydirt on a 9-yard run. Howard scored on a 1-yard run and caught a 45-yard pass from Austin Wingfield. John Moore added a 1-yard scoring run. Blessed Sacramento Huguenot improved to 2-0 VCC, 5-1. Brunswick Academy fell to 0-4, 1-6.

Football: Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 21, Trinity Episcopal 20
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot’s John Moore snuck in a 2-yard touchdown run to tie Trinity Episcopal with 25 seconds remaining, and Nathan Temple sealed the deal for the Knights (4-1) with the extra point. Inside the final two minutes, BSH quarterback Austin Wingfield completed three passes for 30 yards and ran for another seven before Deon Watts sprinted to the 2-yard line on a 30-yard dash. Moore—who also had 10 tackles—scored on the following play.

Football: Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 36, Massanutten Military
WOODSTOCK—Chris Howard had nine carries for 74 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown run, to lead Blessed Sacrament Huguenot over Massanutten Military. The Knights (3-1), who racked up 233 yards rushing, held the Colonerls (1-3) to 61 yards, 40 of which came in the fourth quarter. Howard also had two tackles for loss, and John Moore added seven tackles. Moore also ran for two TDs for Blessed Sacrament Huguenot.

Chris Howard’s eight tackles and 10 first-half carries for 79 yards led Blessed Sacrament Huguenot over Broadwater Academy (0-4). John Moore added eight tackles for the Knights (2-1). Football: North Cross 28, Blessed Sacrament 7
Chris Howard hauled in four receptions for 104 yards and tallied 10 tackles on defense, but Blessed Sacrament Huguenot (1-1) fell to defending champion North Cross (2-1) in a rematch of last season’s VISSA DIII title game. Blessed Sacrament’s defense held North Cross scoreless until late in the third quarter before two quick scores put the Knights behind by 14.

Prep football: Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 35, Kenston Forest 14
Nathaniel Settle ran for a 70-yard touchdown, and had 15 carries for 192 yards, and Blessed Sacrament Huguenot defeated Kenston Forest 35-14. Quarterback Austin Wingfield was 11 of 15 for 161 yards for the Knights (1-0), and connected with Trevor Gilliam on a 59-yard pass for a TD. Chris Howard added six catches for 94 yards for Blessed Sacrament Huguenot, which produced 405 yards of offense.

BSH falls to Carlisle in VIS Division III semifinals
PETERSBURG—Blessed Sacrament Huguenot baseball coach James Poore faced a difficult decision in the fourth inning of the Knights’ Virginia Independent Schools, Division III tournament semifinal at the Petersburg Sports Complex. The Knights had a three-run lead on Carlisle of Martinsville. Chiefs occupied every base, and Poore had to choose between pitching to Carlisle’s most dangerous hitter, Jake Joyce, or intentionally walk in a run.

Boys: Steward 54, Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 47
Andrew Adkins totaled 14 points, 11 rebounds, five assista and four steals and the No. 3 seed Spartans held the No. 6 seed Knights to one basket in the first quarter and held on to win its Virginia Commonwealth Conference quarterfinal. Patrick Branin scored 12 points to help Steward advance to a semifinal matchup 8 p.m. Friday with either Southampton Academy or Fuqua.
