John Marshall’s 67-65 victory over J.R. Tucker last night in the championship game of the Colonial District basketball tournament was, first and foremost, about trust. “Tucker played free, loose, and easy,“ said Frank Threatts, the Justices’ veteran coach, “and my guys might have been a little tired. “But I had confidence in my team. They knew what they were doing.“

The top-seeded Springers fought slowly and steadily—as many championship teams do—from a deep first-quarter deficit to claim a 58-57 victory on a free throw by Juwan Jones with 2.2 seconds left in the game.
