Dining Out Review: Café Gutenberg
I’m always a little wary of restaurant PR. It’s so subjective. I’m not one to put much stock in what a restaurant claims are its strong points. I want to decide for myself. But if I could simply copy and paste the “About Us” section from the newly reopened Café Gutenberg’s Web site, call it my review and move on with my day, I would. They’ve nailed it.

Café Gutenberg reopens
Café Gutenberg fans have had to bide their time for almost two months while the restaurant at 17th and Main streets underwent a makeover. The re-imagined Gutenberg opened yesterday, boasting more seating—131 versus 80 to 100 before—and a revamped menu.

Café Gutenberg set to reopen today
Café Gutenberg to reopen today It has been almost two months, but the renovations and rebirth of Café Gutenberg are complete. The popular eatery at 1700 E. Main St. in Shockoe Bottom opens its doors today at 5 p.m. with a few changes in décor and menu. Co-owner/chef Jen Mindell said the restaurant is no longer a “European café,“ but one that features New American cuisine, such as pulled pork French dip, a large number of vegetarian options and the famous Gutenburger.
