Boys high school basketball preview  12/02/08 12:01 AM

CAPITAL DISTRICT
Last season: 12-0, 25-2 Key players: C Natwan Young, 6-5, Sr.; G Xavier Parham, 5-10, Sr.; F Trey Williams, 6-3, Sr.; G Aaron Hodnett, 5-11, Sr.
Outlook: Last year’s reserves move into starting roles, but the lack of inexperience is evident. Young showed flashes of brilliance, but as the leading returning scorer and rebounder, he averaged 4.4 ppg and 3.0 rpg. Lack of height could be an issue. The tallest players (Young and Scottie Williams) are 6-5. The Springers, at least at the beginning, could be vulnerable.

Girls high school basketball preview  12/02/08 12:01 AM

CAPITAL DISTRICT
Last season: 10-0, 19-3 Key players: PG Sydney Henderson, 5-6, Sr.; G Brittany Hill, 5-8, Jr.; G Taylor Ashcraft, 5-8, Sr.; F Richelle Price, 6-2, Sr.
Outlook: With four seniors in the starting lineup, the Raiders have experience. Atlee is predicted to finish first in the district, especially with the help of Price, a two-time All-Metro first-team pick, on the inside and the guard tandem of Henderson and Hill. The Raiders are still trying to meet some high expectations.
