Football: Hopewell 20, Prince George 17  11/06/09 11:58 PM

Devonte Ennis ran for 67 yards and three scores and the Blue Devils held on to beat the Royals for their first Central District win. Jalen Reeves was 9 for 20 for 145 yards to help lead Hopewell (1-5, 2-7) from a 10-0 deficit. Lawrence Taylor led Prince George (0-6, 1-8) with 121 yards passing, 99 yards rushing and a touchdown. The Royals’ chances for victory were damaged by a bad snap on a field goal attempt late in the contest.

Football: Petersburg 49, Colonial Heights 0  11/06/09 10:52 PM

Kevin Green finished 10 for 19 for 324 yards and four touchdowns to power the Crimson Wave over the Colonials in a Central District matchup. Keith Johnson totaled 190 yards receiving and four TDs for Petersburg (2-3, 4-4), whose defense held Colonial Heights (1-4, 3-5) to just four first downs enitre game. Anthony Johnson made 11 tackles, Jamal Young had 12 tackles and a sack, Ray Procise added 10 tackles, 1½ sacks and Elton Briggs contributed nine tackles, a sack and a tipped pass for the Wave.

Football: Matoaca 27, Dinwiddie 19  11/06/09 9:42 PM

Daquan Turner rushed for 172 yards and a TD on 35 carries as Matoaca (5-1 Central, 5-4) defeated Dinwiddie (3-3, 5-4) in a back-and-forth game. Benjamin Smith had five receptions for 80 yards and two TDs. For Dinwiddie, QB Chris Hall was 15 for 24 for 249 yards and three TDs. Trey Gardner had five receptions for 112 yards and two TDs.

No. 3 Prince George swept No. 2 Matoaca to advance to tomorrow’s Central District final. For the Royals, Jorden Lykes led with 17 kills, Brittany Johnson had 11 kills, 6 digs and 4 aces, Danielle Perry had 17 assists, and Sarah Ham added 6 kills, 4 digs and 2 aces. Football: Petersburg 37, Prince George 15  10/30/09 11:28 PM

Down 15-0, Petersburg (2-3 Central, 4-4) scored five unanswered touchdowns to beat Prince George (0-5, 1-7). Petersburg’s Kevin Green rushed for 164 yards on 13 carries and threw 214 yards on a 12-for-23 passing effort. He threw for two touchdowns. Petersburg’s Jamal Young had four solo tackles, assisted on five more, and forced a fumble.

Football: Dinwiddie 45, Hopewell 14  10/30/09 10:18 PM

Chris Hall threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns to help Dinwiddie defeat Hopewell, 45-14. Drakar Harvell had six grabs for 97 yards and three scores for the Generals as they improved to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the Central District. The Blue Devils was led by Jalen Reeves who rushed for 134 yards on 16 carries who fell to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the District.

Football: No. 6 Thomas Dale 51, Colonial Heights 0  10/30/09 9:32 PM

Mike Edmunds and Lorenzo Fields each ran for two scores in leading the Knights to a Central District win over the Colonials Edmunds returned a fumble 72 yards for a TD, and Fields scored on a 80-yard kickoff return for Thomas Dale (5-0, 6-2). Airek Green also had a return, bringing back a punt 51 yards for a score. Tyler Drewes finished with 22 carries for 111 yards for Colonial Heights (1-4, 3-5).

Field hockey: Central District tournament final postponed  10/28/09 2:08 PM

The Central District field hockey tournament championship game scheduled today at Prince George High School has been postponed to tomorrow at 3 p.m. because of wet grounds. Top-seed Thomas Dale plays No. 3 seed Matoaca.

Field hockey: Central District tournament  10/27/09 9:28 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—Regular-season champion Thomas Dale got two goals from Hannah Robbins to defeat fourth-seeded Hopewell 2-0 in the semifinals of the Central District field hockey tournament yesterday. Thomas Dale, the defending district and Central Region champion, will meet third-seeded Matoaca in today’s 4 p.m. final at Prince George. Matoaca advanced with a 2-1 victory over the hosts.

Dinwiddie’s Chris Hall passed for 193 yards and a touchdown, and added a score on 78-yards rushing as the Generals beat the Crimson Wave (1-3 Central, 3-4). Deandre Allen notched two TDs for Dinwiddie (2-3, 4-3) on 71 yards rushing. Petersburg’s Kevin Green scored three touchdowns, and Eric Magruder rushed for 96 yards. Steele Driskill rushed nine times for 93 yards and two touchdowns in leading the Warriors over the Blue Devils. Jermaine Edwards added seven carries for 69 yards and two TDs for Matoaca (4-0 Central, 4-3). Jalen Reeves ran for a 1-yard score to avoid the shutout for Hopewell (0-1, 0-5). Football: Thomas Dale 46, Prince George 7  10/23/09 10:36 PM

Demetrius Campbell was 8 of 15 passing for 140 yards and three touchdowns, and he punched in another score on a 1-yard run as No. 7 Thomas Dale (5-2 Central, 4-0) rolled past Prince George in a Central District matchup. The Knights’ defense, led by Roger Doggett (eight tackles and an interception) and Jacob Steins (10 tackles, 2 for losses), held the Royals to 128 yards of offense.

Football: Meadowbrook 47, Colonial Heights 6  10/23/09 10:22 PM

No.1 ranked Meadowbrook continues its tear with a victory over Colonial Heights. Andre Coble competed only six passes (6-for-10) but three of those went for touchdowns. He finished with 196 yards through the air and added another score on the ground as the Monarchs improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Central District. The Colonials slipped to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the district.
