Boys: Colonial Beach tops Altavista in Group A Div. 1 semifinal T.T. Carey continued to move up the VHSL single-season and career scoring record lists while leading the Colonial Beach Drifters to the Group A, Division 1 boys basketball tournament championship game. Carey, a senior, scored 23 points this afternoon in the Drifters’ 55-36 victory over Altavista, the 2004 state champions, at the Siegel Center in Richmond. Carey’s season total of 847 with one game to go puts him sixth on the list. He passed five players, including former Altavista star Kenny Hunt, today.

T.T. Carey scored half of his team’s total points with 42 as Colonial Beach romped past Franklin 84-57 to win the Group A, Region A, Division 1 championship. Carey added 11 rebounds, seven steals and four assists, and Dylan Farinet had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Jeryl Dickerson also scored in double figures for the Drifters with 12 points.

T.T. Carey recorded 46 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in Colonial Beach’s victory over Surry. Dylan Farinet tallied 34 points, along with 17 boards and five assists, and Jeryl Dickerson added 10 for the Drifters. John Newman led the Cougars with 28 points. Colonial Beach will face Franklin at 8 p.m. tonight for the championship at Surry. Both teams automatically advance to the state tournament.

T.T. Carey (32 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) and Dylan Farinet (18 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists) both tallied triple-doubles as Colonial Beach hammered Mathews 96-47 to win the district final. Thomas Peery (14 points) and Kevin Swope (12 points) both made four 3-pointers for the Drifters, who won their 11th straight and finished the season undefeated in the Tidewater District.

T.T. Carey had 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, and became Colonial Beach’s all-time leading scorer with 2,238 points as the Drifters hammered West Point. Dylan Farinet scored 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds and six assists, and Jamel Dickerson tallied 11 points for Colonial Beach. Aaron Roane led the Pointers with a team-high 20 points.
