The parent company of Consolidated Bank & Trust in Richmond yesterday completed its merger with Premier Financial Bancorp Inc., a $734 million holding company based in Huntington, W.Va. The all-stock deal was valued at $10.3 million. Abigail Adams National Bancorp, a $382 million holding company based in Washington, was the parent company of Consolidated Bank and Adams National Bank, also based in Washington.

Consolidated Bank & Trust will become a branch of Washington-based Adams National Bank presuming regulatory and shareholder approval. But that doesn’t mean that the heritage of what was once the nation’s oldest black-owned bank in continuous operation will be erased. The plan is to retain a reference to the name as part of a pending merger between Consolidated Bank’s parent company and Premier Financial Bancorp Inc. of Huntington, W.Va.
