Police focusing on robberies at convenience stores, fast-food restaurants  06/19/09 12:01 AM

Police are pooling their information and developing what they describe as good leads as the number of violent robberies of small businesses grows across the Richmond region. Investigators from Richmond, where many of the robberies have occurred, have met repeatedly in recent days with their counterparts in suburban police departments to compare notes. The information-sharing sessions, as well as tips from residents, have enabled investigators to make progress in solving the cases, said Richmond police Cmdr. Steve Drew, who oversees operations in South Richmond, where the two most violent robberies have taken place.

Police seek three males in Carver carjacking  06/17/09 12:01 AM

Richmond police were searching for three males in a carjacking yesterday that injured a man in the Carver neighborhood. Police said the victim was assaulted by three males and then struck by his silver 2002 Chevrolet Impala four-door sedan as the robbers drove away in the car. The victim was treated for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.

Henrico investigates commercial burglaries  04/08/09 12:01 AM

Henrico County police are investigating a rash of commercial burglaries at office parks in the Willow Lawn, Parham and Glen Forest areas. Lt. Doug Perry said 16 break-ins have been reported since Feb. 21, and in almost all, an office building was accessed through an unlocked exterior door during the overnight hours. Once inside, thieves pried open interior office doors to gain access to individual businesses.

Police seek 2 men in Monday shooting in Richmond  03/27/09 12:01 AM

Byrd Taylor Richmond police are searching for two men in connection with a shooting Monday in the 100 block of East 33rd Street in South Richmond. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Roosevelt Byrd or Khadim Taylor is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. Byrd, 20, of the first block of East 31st Street, is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, police said. Taylor, 22, of the 100 block of West Blake Lane, is 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.

One arrested, two sought in East End slaying  03/01/09 1:01 AM

Richmond police have arrested one man and are seeking two others in a fatal shooting in the city’s East End early yesterday. Officers responding to the 2300 block of Phaup Street just before 3 a.m. found Orlando C. Alston, 24, dead of an apparent gunshot wound. Alston lived in the 2300 block of Selden Street, near where the shooting occurred.
