Man gets five years in toddler’s death
A Cumberland County man convicted of child abuse and neglect in the death of a 2-year-old child was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday. A jury convicted Anthony E. Wooten in July and recommended the five-year sentence Circuit Court Judge Richard Blanton imposed yesterday. Wooten, who was facing a maximum of 10 years in prison, said he will appeal the sentence. While the jury convicted Wooten of child abuse and neglect, it found him not guilty of a felony murder charge.
