CUMBERLAND—Sterling Walton carried 22 times for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Cumberland added three long-distance defensive touchdowns en route to a solid victory over Prince Edward. Linebacker Chris Foster contributed 13 tackles and a pair of sacks for the winners, but the most memorable defensive plays were delivered by Quandell Williams (54-yard fumble return), Raheem Hatcher (56-yard interception return) and Jermaine Lee (77-yard interception return).

BeBe Wells rushed for four touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Generals to a season-opening victory over the Dukes. Sterling Walton rushed 16 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns and had 205 all-purpose yards for Cumberland. Quentin Langhorne added a 55-yard touchdown run. Chris Foster led the Dukes’ defense with 13 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
