Bedford’s D-Day Memorial could become a national park
An effort to save the National D-Day Memorial has made some progress. The defense-spending bill that the U.S. Senate passed Thursday instructs officials to consider making the monument a federal property. The bill includes language introduced by Sens. Mark R. Warner and Jim Webb, both Virginia Democrats, directing the Department of the Interior to study the feasibility of making the financially struggling monument a National Park Service site.

Ray Nance, last surviving ‘Bedford Boy,‘ dead at 94
The storied journey of the “Bedford Boys” came to an end yesterday with the death of the group’s last surviving member, Ray Nance.
