Shots don’t drop as Spiders’ season ends
WASHINGTON Georgetown fired howitzers and, when it mattered most, the University of Richmond Spiders fired blanks. Little more need be said about the Hoyas’ 65-49 victory over Richmond in last night’s third-round game of the women’s postseason National Invitation Tournament. Georgetown hit the target with 10 3-pointers in 22 attempts while earning a berth in this weekend’s NIT quarterfinal against Boston College. Richmond, which has labored all season to conceal its offensive deficiencies, couldn’t do so last night. It shot 29.8 percent and ended its season with a 24-10 record.
