U.Va.‘s Davis ties school mark in tourney win
Junior Amory Davis tied the University of Virginia tournament scoring record while winning the North Carolina Greensboro Bridgestone Golf Collegiate title yesterday. Davis shot 5-under 67 during the final round to win the 54-hole event by one shot at 11-under 205. Davis’ total equaled the previous mark set by Jimmy Flippen in 1995, Steve Marino in 2001 and Jeremy Luce in 2003.

Chesterfield court clerk sues chief judge
Chesterfield County Circuit Court Clerk Judy L. Worthington is suing the chief Circuit Court judge in a turf spat, among other things, over the county’s Web site. Worthington complains that in November, Judge Michael C. Allen issued an order authorizing lawyer Aubrey M. Davis Jr. to perform marriages. The order directed that Davis’ name be added to a list of people authorized to do so on the clerk’s page of the county Web site.

First-term councilman is elected new mayor
Colonial Heights City Council last night elected first-term Councilman C. Scott Davis as mayor, rejecting the reappointment of John T. Wood to a third mayoral term. At a special meeting, the seven-member council also elected Betsy G. Luck as vice mayor. Davis, who is chief of police at Richard Bland College, is serving his first four-year term on the council. He was nominated by Luck for the two-year mayoral term and was backed by all of the council members except Wood.
