Sudanese police fired tear gas and beat women protesting outside a Sudanese court Tuesday during the trial of a female journalist accused of violating the Islamic dress code by wearing trousers in public.

Henrico School Board seeks more leeway in proposed dress code for staff
Henrico County teachers may be able to wear jeans and sneakers next year after all. The Henrico School Board reviewed a proposed dress code for employees, including teachers, yesterday and directed staff to build in a little more leeway for elementary school teachers and casual or school spirit days. The original proposal had banned jeans and athletic shoes unless needed for job requirements.

Henrico School Board to consider teacher dress code
Henrico County teachers may have to watch what they wear to work this fall. After adopting a countywide dress code for students last month, the School Board now is turning its attention to staff. Athletic shoes, flip-flops, jeans, tattoos and facial jewelry would be taboo for teachers in most cases under a draft policy to be discussed today at a School Board work session at the Glen Echo Building, 3810 Nine Mile Road.
