Henrico police this morning identified a crash victim from a Saturday night police chase as Danielle L. Bellio, 25. Bellio’s speeding car went off Springfield Road Saturday night after a brief chase by a Henrico officer who saw her car run a red light on West Broad Street in the Short Pump area. The vehicle struck a tree and the driver was rushed to VCU Medical Center.

A woman died yesterday of injuries suffered when she wrecked her vehicle while being pursued by Henrico County police. Henrico police said an officer attempted to pull the woman over for speeding along West Broad Street in Short Pump on Saturday about 11:30 p.m. “She continued on, lost control of the vehicle, striking a tree on Springfield Road,“ said Henrico Lt. J.C. Holmes Sr.

A motorcyclist was killed after he wrecked on the Chippenham Parkway while being pursued by Virginia State Police, authorities said early today.

The parents of a Covington High School student killed in a car wreck on the way to sell ads for the school’s yearbook are suing the School Board, the principal and a teacher for $1 million. According to the lawsuit, Robert Smith, 16, was the back-seat passenger in a vehicle driven by classmate Norman Lee Thomas on Sept. 19, 2007. Thomas, who was 17 at the time, was driving at speeds of more than 100 mph on Interstate 64, according to another passenger in the car. The car went off the road and flipped.

Pa. man killed in Henrico crash A 30-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed on southbound Interstate 295 in Henrico County yesterday afternoon while trying to retrieve fallen luggage, police said. The crash occurred at 4:26 p.m. on the Varina Road overpass, just north of the Varina-Enon Bridge, and closed the right and center southbound lanes for four hours while crews investigated, said Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Tom Cunningham.
