The Rose Bowl is where Southern California plays next if it beats UCLA tomorrow. What a pity. The “granddaddy of all bowls” pales in comparison to what the Trojans deserve—a chance to play for the national championship.

Officials across South face early-voting glitches
Election officials across the South are untangling minor glitches as voters flock to the polls and vote by mail ahead of Election Day. Yesterday, a Tennessee county reported some voters received ballots for the wrong district, and an Atlanta suburb discovered problems with some of its absentee ballots. Florida crush: Florida Democrats are urging the state to extend early voting to deal with the crush of voters descending on polling sites there.

Richmond man is jailed in Florida
A Richmond man was being held without bond in Florida, accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Tampa, police say. Damion Robert Collins, 33, arrived at the Orient Road Jail in Tampa on Monday after being extradited from Grimes County, Texas, jail records show. He was arrested in Texas on five warrants charging him with felony sexual battery on a victim younger than 12.
