Alpha Natural Resources, which merged in July with Foundation Coal, will build its new corporate headquarters in Bristol, creating 69 jobs while retaining 131 positions, Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said this morning.

Alpha Natural Resources will buy Foundation Coal, controlling 59 coal mines and 14 preparation plants with combined reserves of more than 2.3 billion tons of coal.
