Chief fundraiser for Va. GOP quits
The chief fundraiser for the Republican Party of Virginia is quitting, branding the GOP “dysfunctional.“ The departure of Walter M. Curt, a wealthy Shenandoah Valley businessman, is another setback for the party’s embattled chairman, Del. Jeffrey M. Frederick, R-Prince William. In a “Dear Jeff” letter, Curt said the GOP faces an “entire array of seemingly intractable problems,“ even though its top leaders include skilled, loyal and dedicated activists.

The distribution of a song titled “Barack the Magic Negro” by a candidate for chairman of the national Republican Party has created an unnecessary distraction as the party rebuilds, Virginia GOP chairman Jeff Frederick said yesterday.

Republican chief likely to keep job
Virginia’s embattled Republican chairman gets to keep his job—for now. Del. Jeffrey M. Frederick of Prince William County apparently will remain as party leader despite high-decibel, grass-roots discontent after historic losses last month for Virginia Republicans. The GOP’s Central Committee was meeting last night in closed session to quarrel over the party’s failing finances. However, Frederick loyalists within the party’s hierarchy left the meeting to report that his chairmanship was safe.
