Ordinance would block roundabout at A.P. Hill Monument  06/21/09 12:01 AM

Richmond may have to come up with another way to improve traffic safety and flow around the A.P. Hill Monument on the city’s North Side. Officials have accepted a state grant that would allow the Laburnum Avenue-Hermitage Road intersection to be converted into a two-lane roundabout, which would be designed to reduce speeds from 35 to 40 mph to 18 to 23 mph.

Ginter Park home and garden tour  05/08/09 12:04 AM

An artist painting the blooming spring color will be featured in each garden on Ginter Park’s “En Plein Air Perennials, Your Favorite Gardens and Homes” tour. The open air tour, scheduled for May 16 from noon to 5 p.m., includes four homes, nine gardens and the chapel at Ginter Park Baptist Church. Tour locations:

  • 3212 Noble Ave., house and garden. Note the sparkling chandelier that took four men to carry into the house and the simple boxwood garden, complementing a relaxing outdoor dining spot.
