After six years as Activities Director at Varina High School, Chris Robinson is leaving to take the same position at the new Glen Allen High School in Henrico County. The school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2010, and Robinson will spend the next year preparing the athletics facilities and teams for the opening. “The opportunity to be a part of building a program from the ground up was something I couldn’t pass up,“ he said. “I felt like it was an opportunity to make a difference, and I couldn’t pass it up.“

Henrico County’s newest schools, now under construction, have names. The School Board voted unanimously tonight to name a new facility on Staples Mill Road the Glen Allen High School. Inside the school will be the Col. Leslie T. Sheppard Sr. Memorial Auditorium, named for a former Henrico chief of police. Off Nuckols Road will be Holman Middle School, named after the Holman family whose farm encompassed land in that area.
