Gov. Timothy M. Kaine is President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to run the Democratic National Committee, a high-profile post from which the Virginian can steer millions of dollars in cash and services to candidates across the country.

Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced staff reductions and other spending cuts to his the executive office budget, including the Cabinet. The cuts include the elimination of eight jobs through layoffs or turnover. The cuts total more than $900,000 for the remainder of fiscal year 2009 and increase to $1.4 million on an annual basis or 10% in fiscal year 2010.
