Environmental themes also were added to the scripts of “The Biggest Loser,“ “The Office,“ “Heroes” and “Community.“ This year on “30 Rock,“ corporate boss Jack Donaghy tells the late-night show’s staff it has to cut its carbon footprint by 5 percent and puts Kenneth the Page in charge of getting it done.

ECO FRIENDLY YARD WORK: Going green to get a gorgeous yard

Tending to the lawn and being kind to Mother Nature have been at odds since the first power mower was manufactured in 1919. Green to have leg amputated  06/15/09 12:01 AM

Champions Tour golfer Ken Green, who was injured in a recreational vehicle crash in Mississippi that killed his brother and girlfriend, will have his lower right leg amputated, his agent said yesterday. Kevin Richardson said Green, 50, is struggling with the “double whammy” of the deaths and his career-threatening injuries. Richardson said doctors will remove his leg below the knee today after determining it would take two years of surgery to repair a limb that wouldn’t function well before Green could walk again. He also will need a surgery to repair damage to a suborbital bone in his face. He also has a cut about 6 inches long on the left side of his head.

Expectant mothers eat nutritious foods, take prenatal vitamins, stop drinking or smoking and in general do whatever it takes to have a healthy baby. But when it’s time to decorate the nursery, new parents frequently go for style over substance. “They paint the walls, bring in a new changing table, rocking chair, crib, mattress, bedding, toys, rug, mobile, clothes, diapers and a slew of other things,“ said Sara Snow, author of “Sara Snow’s Fresh Living: The Essential Room-by-Room Guide to a Greener, Healthier Family and Home” (Bantam; $16).
