Hanover baseball advances to state championship
Bryson Kemler serves as Hanover High School’s leadoff hitter and catalyst. But he hadn’t been getting on base much lately because of a postseason slump. “I only had one hit since the district championship game,“ noting a stretch of four games, he said. Kemler had two last night—and they qualified as considerably more than just getting on base.

Hanover’s Erb comes through when it counts
Big Austin Erb hadn’t been a big factor offensively in Hanover High’s first two meetings with Mills Godwin. That changed last night—at just the right time. The 6-0, 225-pound first baseman had three hits and three RBI, and the Hawks cranked up their prolific offense with a pair of two-run homers to outscore Godwin 11-7 in the Central Region semifinals.

Hanover High gets noise exemption
Hanover High School football fans can roar, bang drums, blow whistles and make noise without limit under a permit granted last night by the Hanover County Board of Supervisors. Neighbors had complained that the noise from events at the school on U.S. 301 exceeded allowable limits and reached dangerous levels during marching band practice and football games.

Hanover High’s PA system making noise
For six years, Hanover County resident Amy Whittaker has followed Hanover High School football without going to a single game. The school’s public-announcement system was so loud, she said, she could hear every play from inside her Whippoorwill Road home, which is behind the school property off U.S. 301. Whittaker said the noise has also scared her livestock. She recalled a time when her horses got spooked, kicked open the fence and went running down U.S. 301 in a panic.
