Guard Aaron Hodnett led No. 4 Highland Springs with 23 points against Capital District challenger Atlee. Xavier Parham had 18 for the Springers and Natwan Young had 10. Richelle Price tallied 20 points and nine rebounds and Taylor Henderson scored 18 points as No. 4 Atlee defeated Capital District rival Highland Springs. Brittany Hill had 14 points and Sydney Henderson added nine assists for the Raiders. Kyra Coleman (nine rebounds) and Jazzman Dabney (five steals) each had 11 points for the Springers, while Ty Jefferies had four steals and Qunisha Cannon had seven rebounds.

Jeri Mask scored 15 points to pace the Springers’ balanced attack in a Capital District romp past the visiting Hawks. Natwan Young and Aaron Hodnett added 14 apiece, and Aaron Parham and Sage Reed contributed 10 each as Highland Springs went on the offensive early and never was threatened. Drew Crytser’s 12 points led Hanover, with all of his production coming on 3-point baskets.

Amanda Woolard scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, as Hanover defeated No. 10 Highland Springs in Capital District play. What he did: Young, a 6-5 senior and the returning Springer with the most floor time last year, was named the most named valuable player in the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament. He led the Springers in scoring in each game: 21 points vs. Deep Run, 18 against Cosby and 18 in the title-game win over Collegiate. He had 13 rebounds, blocked four shots and had five steals against the Cougars. Earlier in the week, he put up 20 points against Atlee. Age: 18 Three words your friends would use to describe you: “Tall, funny, lazy.“ Strengths: “Rebounding and intensity.“ Toughest opponent other than yourself: “[Teammate] Xavier Parham. He keeps me focused.“ Favorite food: Chicken and spaghetti.
