Football: Clover Hill 31, Huguenot 0
Joel Caleb completed 12 of 15 passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers, No. 10 in the T-D Top 10, to a commanding Dominion District victory. Christian Conklin caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown for the winners (6-2, 7-2). Conklin also kicked a 38-yard field goal and punted three times, dropping two of those kicks inside the Huguenot 20.

Williams: Who is in charge of Richmond’s schools?
No one anticipates a fleet of moving vans rolling up again on City Hall at nightfall. Still, the relationship between Mayor Dwight C. Jones and the Richmond School Board has taken a turn for the Wilder. Jones recently unveiled an aggressive school-construc tion plan that calls for an $81 million replacement for Huguenot High School, as well as money for two elementary schools and a middle school.

Football: James River 48, Huguenot 24
Calvin Jefferson rushed for three touchdowns, including a 90-yard kickoff return, and the Rapids defeated the Falcons in a Dominion District matchup. Kevon White (14 carries, 67 yards) ran for two TDs, and QB Josh Wells (4 for 6, 91 yards) threw for two scores for James River (4-3, 5-3), including a 62-yard TD pass to Nelson Harris. Mario Williams paced Huguenot (2-4, 3-5) with three returns for 162 yards, including an 88-yard kickoff return for a TD, and two receptions for 56 yards. Donald Hill led the defense with a total of 14 tackles, nine solo and five assisted.

Football: Huguenot 14, Midlothian 11
Arsaiah Robinson ran for 77 yards and two touchdowns and the Falcons held on for a Dominion District win over the Trojans. After Midlothian (0-5, 1-6) took a 3-0 lead, Robinson scampered in from 11 yards and 3 yards to put Huguenot (2-3, 3-4) in control. Peter Thomas chipped in with 71 yards rushing for the Falcons. The Trojans made a late rally with Jimmy Whitten hitting Ryan Hamner with a 5-yard touchdown pass and then passing to Collin Joyce to cut the lead to 3 points. Huguenot recovered and onside kick to seal the victory.

Football: Monacan 27, Huguenot 6
Logan Staib threw two scoring passes and ran in a touchdown in leading the Chiefs over the Falcons. Staib finished 5 for 10 passing for 78 yards for Monacan (3-2 Dominion, 3-3). Chris Turner and Connor Wingo-Reeves dominated the defense with 11 tackles apiece. Quinton Watson led Huguenot (1-3, 2-4) in rushing with 18 carries on 87 yards, and Peter Thomas ran in a 6-yard TD to avoid the shutout.

Football: No. 8 Manchester 42, Huguenot 34
Brandon Chiles rushed for 274 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Lancers to a Dominion District win over the Falcons. Chiles scored on runs of 17, 35 and 2 yards. Steve White added two passing touchdowns and Cory Callis scored on a 72-yard interception return for Manchester (2-0, 3-1). Kanard Pryor led Huguenot (1-2, 2-2) with 89 yards and a score and Quinton Watson rushed for a touchdown, caught a scoring pass and scored on two 2-point conversions. Trevin Curtis scored on a 90-yard blocked field goal return.

Mario Williams returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a score and caught a touchdowns pass to set the Falcons on their way to a Dominion District win over the Bulldogs. Trevor Williams threw a 55-yard touchdown strike to Quinton Watson and finished 7 for 12 for 103 yards and two scores for Huguenot (1-1, 2-1). Peter Thomas Jr. also had a rushing touchdown.

Freshman Lionel Williams rushed for two touchdowns, and L.C. Bird’s defense held Huguenot to 48 total yards as the Skyhawks rang up a Dominion District victory. Williams had 14 carries for 107 yards. Quarterback Anthony Harris was 4 for 10 for 62 yards and touchdown passes to Brandon Williams (33 yards) and Deon Clark (7 yards). Harris also scored the game’s first touchdown on a 6-yard run.

High school notes
“Technically,“ Atlee football coach Roscoe Johnson said, “we’re supposed to be better next year.“ The Raiders might be ahead of schedule. Atlee, which takes on Patrick Henry this week, is 2-0 for the first time in the school’s 19-year football history. Only four seniors start on each side of the ball, and Johnson said he has some talented players waiting on the JV team.

Keeble Hawthorne intercepted a pass at the 1-yard line with two minutes remaining to help Huguenot rally to past Monticello. Kennard Pryor had 15 carries for 150 yards, and ran for a 2-yard touchdown for the Falcons (1-0). Devon Peoples made six carries for 43 yards, ran for a 12-yard score and a 3-yard extra point. Quinton Watson (23-yard run) and Trevor Williamson (2-yard run) each added a score for Huguenot.
