NASCAR Notes: Biffle regrets running into Logano
Greg Biffle says he “probably shouldn’t have” run into fellow NASCAR driver Joey Logano during last week’s Nationwide race, an incident that led to a postrace confrontation between Biffle and Logano’s father. Biffle and Logano tangled early in the race at Auto Club Speedway, a move Biffle said was payback after Logano bumped him during the Nationwide race at Kansas a week earlier.

Auto roundup: Franchitti is IRL champion
Dario Franchitti’s return to IndyCar racing couldn’t have gone better. He’s the IRL champion once again. “I still can’t believe it,“ said Franchitti, the scent of champagne obvious on his soaked racesuit an hour after the checkered flag came out in his honor. “Really, I can’t.“ Franchitti successfully emerged from one of the closest points races in series history yesterday, winning the season-ending Indy 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the first caution-free IRL race ever.

Nationwide: Logano earns fourth win of season
KANSAS CITY, Kan.—That horrific crash didn’t slow Joey Logano. Logano passed points leader Kyle Busch with three laps left yesterday at Kansas Speedway, pulling out his fourth Nationwide victory just a week after flipping his car seven times in a Cup race at Dover last week. Busch, who has finished second in all four of Logano’s wins this season, led 173 of the 200 laps on the 1.5-mile oval and has led 2,226 laps this season, breaking the season series record of 2,127 set by Sam Ard in 1984. But Busch didn’t have enough to hold off Logano, who came back to beat him in the final 10 laps for the fourth time this season.

Logano’s wreck was scary
Joey Logano skidded down the track, shot straight back up and into the wall, and then his car was T-boned by Reed Sorenson. Then came the flips. Eight times in all, barrel-rolling across Dover International Speedway’s concrete track before landing on its side for a brief moment and tipping over to rest on its wheels. Logano’s father ran to the infield care center to check on his son, but the wreck looked worse than the final result.

NASCAR’s Logano helps build Richmond playground
No disrespect intended to rakes, shovels, hammers and other tools fueled by sweat, grunts and muscle, but Joey Logano was looking for something with a bit more juice. “I need some power,“ Logano said with a smile as he scanned the horizon for a job site where workers were using drills.

Logano shows veteran savvy at Darlington
DARLINGTON, S.C.—It was a sight Tony Stewart couldn’t take his eyes off—the No. 20 Home Depot car running up front late in the race at Darlington. And it made little difference Stewart was a few car lengths behind watching his Joe Gibbs Racing successor drive one of the best races of his brief Sprint Cup career. Logano too young for Crown Royal
If Joey Logano wins the Crown Royal Presents The Russ Friedman 400 on Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway, he’ll gladly take the check and trophy. But he won’t take a celebratory swig of whiskey. At 18, the Sprint Cup and Nationwide driver can only pour down a bottle of milk or water. “It’s the law I guess,“ said Logano, who isn’t old enough to drink alcohol. “We’ll try to win the race and deal with it later. I don’t have an idea how it works.“
