Boys: King’s Fork tops Wm. Fleming for AAA title
Derek Wright drilled a 3-pointer with 41 seconds remaining to cap a stunning comeback and give King’s Fork a 49-47 victory over William Fleming in the Virginia High School League Group AAA boys championship game at the Siegel Center in Richmond. The Bulldogs scored just nine points in the first half and didn’t reach double figures until the 5:45 mark of the third quarter. At that point, they trailed 29-11. Using a physically clawing, harassing defense, King’s Fork began to chip away at the deficit until Alvin Daughtrey scored on a breakaway that gave the Bulldogs their first lead, 37-36. Those were the only points for Daughtrey.

Boys: King’s Fork ends Petersburg’s season in AAA semifinal
Tied at the end of three quarters, the King’s Fork Bulldogs scored on seven of its first nine possessions in the final period of the boys Group AAA semifinal and handed the Petersburg Crimson Wave a stunning 73-67 loss tonight at the Siegel Center in Richmond. The loss ended Petersburg’s quest for the state title and a perfect season. They finish with a 30-1 record.
