Man convicted in boy’s shooting death
Henrico County authorities believe the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy in January was an accident and that convictions in the case yesterday will end prosecutions in the matter. There was no physical evidence of who shot Kristofer L. Jefferson in an eastern Henrico home filled with children and with a long history of violent conduct.

‘A family in the midst of a storm’
Mourners celebrated the short life of 2-year-old Kristofer Jefferson yesterday, describing him “as a new angel in the kingdom of heaven.“ The funeral for the Henrico County child, who was nestled in a tiny white casket, drew more than 200 family members and friends.

Documents detail house of violence
A 2-year-old boy shot to death Sunday night in a Henrico County home and his seven siblings were part of a violent, ongoing domestic dispute in which their father is charged with attempted murder of their mother, court records state. The father, Kenneth Dwayne “Chrome” Jefferson Sr., 39, also threatened to kill friends of his wife, even stating in September that he would track down one of them in the Richmond City Jail, court documents show.

Only one firearm, a rifle, found in home where boy was shot
Henrico County authorities revealed yesterday that the only gun taken from a Watts Lane home where a 2-year-old boy supposedly shot himself Sunday was a .22-caliber rifle. Henrico police and Commonwealth’s Attorney Wade Kizer declined to add further details about items recovered from 1904 Watts Lane on Sunday night or about how Kristofer Jefferson suffered a fatal bullet wound there.

Henrico County police say they are carefully assessing witness statements in Sunday’s shooting death of 2-year-old Kristofer L. Jefferson, whose grandmother was ordered held without bond yesterday. “We are trying to determine exactly what happened and are not certain at this point that we know for a fact what did happen,“ said Henrico police Lt. Doug Perry, who stressed that forensic evidence in the case is critical.
