Boys basketball: No. 5 Thomas Dale 92, Matoaca 47
Andrew White’s 13 first quarter points helped Thomas Dale build a 20-point lead and the Knights never looked back as they went on for the Central District boys basketball win. White finished the night with 28 points, six rebounds and five steals. Malcolm King added 19 points, six rebounds and seven steals for Thomas Dale. The Warriors were led by Brian Ford and Brian White who each scored eight points respectively.

Thomas Dale racked up a ridiculous 40 points in the second quarter en route to a big defeat of Matoaca. Shawnee Sweeney scored 18 points, Kalia Johnson added 21 and Andrea Hobbs put up 20 for the Knights. Boys basketball: No. 9 Meadowbrook 73, Matoaca 66
No. 9 Meadowbrook got a double double from Jaquan Daily and the Monarchs came away with the Central district boys basketball win last night. Daily scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Monarchs who improved to 3-1 in the district and 7-2 overall. Devin Mormon added 16 for Meadowbrook. Despite connecting on 10 three-pointers for the night (four in the fourth quarter), Matoaca is still searching for its first district win. Brian Ford led the Warriors (0-4, 3-5) with 14 points. Tevin Johnson chipped in 12.

No. 5 Meadowbrook continues to maintain its lead on the Central District after its win over Matoaca last night. The Monarchs improved to 4-0 in the district and 6-3 for the season. Torrie Cunningham led all scorers with 19 points for Meadowbrook with Courtney Coleman adding 12. The Monarchs led by 10 after one and held a 32-15 advantage at intermission.
