No. 1 Meadowbrook mashes No. 4 Dinwiddie

high school football Meadowbrook High quarterback Andre Coble gave the Monarchs’ football team an A-minus last night. The minus, Coble said, was because the Monarchs “can always get better.“ Tough grader, that Mr. Coble. Top-ranked Meadowbrook did nothing to dispel its standing as the area’s head-of-the-class team, hammering fourth-ranked Dinwiddie 56-17 in a Central District game at Meadowbrook.

Coble leads Monarchs into showdown with Dinwiddie

Andre Coble learned the nuances of the spread offense during a sojourn in California. When senior quarterback Andre Coble walks down the halls of Meadowbrook High School, everyone seems to know who he is. On the football field, he’s the linchpin of the mighty Monarchs offense, which averages 37.5 points per game. “We’re in this offense because of him,“ said first-year coach Troy Taylor, who was an assistant at Meadowbrook when Coble was a freshman and sophomore. “It’s best to get the ball in the hands of your best player.“
