Meadowbrook wins with a grand plan  09/19/09 12:01 AM

Meadowbrook’s Jayson Taylor (6) takes down Hermitage’s Justin Gist on a kickoff return during the first half. The second-ranked Monarchs cruised to a 27-14 win. The secret to an outstanding passing attack is really no secret at all. First, you need a plan. Next, you need a quick, fast, clear-thinking quarterback, a retinue of sure-handed receivers, a running back or two who can keep the defense honest and a supporting cast of big guys in the trenches who simply love their jobs.

Football: Meadowbrook 36, Highland Springs 32  09/12/09 12:14 AM

Troy Taylor was emotionally drained. The sweat on his face glistened from the glow of the Friday night lights. He had nothing left to give, but he could hardly conceal his ecstasy. Moments earlier, the final horn had sounded ending the wild and wooly non-district matchup between Meadowbrook and Highland Springs, and his Monarchs had battled their way to a 36-32 victory on the road.

The line will be a good starting point, with all-district guard Greg Gallop (6-2, 306 pounds) and tackle Spencer Randolph (6-3, 298) leading the way. They’ll be joined by center Josh Childress, guard Adam White, tackle Sam Hartman and tight end Mike Dudley. Airek Green is a prospect at running back with senior Demitrius Campbell at quarterback.
