Henrico motorcycle shop owner philosophical about zoning mixup
When Ken Germain thought about expanding Ken’s Cycle Center on Nine Mile Road, the logical place to build was an alley used as his driveway. A year and a half later, with the economy collapsed to the point that he doesn’t want to expand right now, he finally has the rezoning approved by the Henrico County Planning Commission. The Board of Supervisors will vote on it in August.

Highland County farmer builds an electric motorcycle
A new era in motorcycles breezed into Richmond last week. That’s breezed, not rumbled. The motorcycle Brian Richardson showed off Tuesday on the training course near the main office of the Department of Motor Vehicles on West Broad Street was powered by an electric motor. While electric cars—particularly of the hybrid variety—have become relatively mainstream, a motorcycle without a grumbling, gas-powered motor is a novelty.

Hopewell taking part in Wreaths Across America
A wreath-laying ceremony to honor fallen veterans from U.S. wars dating back to the Civil War will be Dec. 13, 2008, at the Hopewell Cemetery at City Point, 10th Avenue and Davis Street, in Hopewell. The ceremony, which will begin at noon, will involve an introduction, an invocation, a speaker making brief remarks, the laying of the wreaths and the playing of taps.
