RRHA sets open house at Randolph model home  10/16/09 12:01 AM

The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority is hosting a fall open house at a model home in the Randolph community tomorrow. Prospective homebuyers can tour the model home at 1608 Winder St. and participate in a guided bus tour of two other featured homes—located at 1119 Meade St. in the Randolph community and 2608 Harold St. in the Highland Park community.

Islamic Center of Virginia plans open house  07/02/09 11:06 AM

The Islamic Center of Virginia, 1241 Buford Road, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18. The purpose of the free event is for residents to meet members of the local Muslim community and to learn about the mosque. Food will be served. For more information, call (804) 320-7333.

69th Annual West Avenue Garden Tour  04/24/09 12:01 AM

Families are invited to the Fan on Sunday for the 69th annual West Avenue Garden Tour. Children’s activities begin at noon. Gardens will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. The free event, sponsored by the West Avenue Improvement Association, features a children’s parade, magician, entertainment and refreshments. The 1100 block of West Avenue will be closed to traffic during the tour.

ACAC events May 11-16 encourage community to get active  04/23/09 10:42 AM

ACAC Fitness & Wellness Center, 11621 Robious Road, Midlothian, will open its doors to the public May 11-16 in celebration of “Get Active America!,“ the fitness industry’s campaign to get communities across America up and moving. During the free open house, guests may check out cardio and weightlifting machines, free weights, the indoor Olympic-size 50-meter pool, Mind-Body offerings as well as more than 100 group exercise classes for all levels. ACAC fitness specialists will be on hand to assist. Guests can visit from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 11-14 and from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 15.

Petersburg open house also a benefit and art auction  03/29/09 12:01 AM

Kimberly Ann Calos, an agent with Prince George Realty, had to get the approval of the Petersburg fire chief to hold an open house at one of her listings. This isn’t just any home and it isn’t your typical open house. The wood-frame house was built about 200 years ago and it’s showing its age, a little rickety here and there—a possible fire hazard.

On Saturday, April 4, the Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities opens “Creative Juice,“ an exhibit featuring the work of instructors and adult art students at its Pine Camp Arts and Community Center. The opening will be held in the Spotlight Gallery from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Paintings, pottery, weavings, jewelry, and photography will be on display.
