Hermitage 24, Patrick Henry 3
Third-ranked Hermitage (6-0, 9-1) compiled 332 yards total offense and rolled to its third consecutive Colonial District championship. Quarterback Brendon Riddick completed 11 of 18 passes for 206 yards, two touchdowns and an interception . He also scored a rushing TD. Anthony Vieng (3 receptions, 101 yards) and Derek Britt caught the TD passes. Easton Gordon led the ground game with 114 yards on 14 carries. Linebackers Curtis Grant (12 tackles, sack) and Daryl Howell (eight tackles) and defensive back Brandon Rogers (four tackles, two interceptions) spearheaded the Panthers’ defense. Jayrin Waller rushed for 39 yards on 14 carries for Patrick Henry (3-4, 4-6), which finished under .500 for the first time since 1992.

Football: No. 8 J.R. Tucker 35, Patrick Henry 28 (OT)
Michael Mey intercepted a Patrick Henry pass in overtime at the goal line to end the drive, then connected with Jered Bennett on a 29-yard score to secure the Tigers Colonial District win over the Patriots. In the fourth quarter, with Patrick Henry up 28-21 and 1:45 to go, Jacob Bennett returned a kick off 46 yards to the Patriots’ 34. On the third down, brother Jered threw a 31-yard TD pass with just 47 seconds remaining to send the game into OT.

Two-way player Devonte Derricott rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown and got seven tackles as Patrick Henry defeated Douglas Freeman 29-19. The Patriots also got two touchdowns from Jayrin Waller as they improved to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the Colonial. The Rebels (1-3; 2-6) was led by Eric Addison who rushed for 61 yards. Holden Bass returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown and finished off a stellar Deep Run defensive performance with a 36-yard interception return in the Wildcats’ Colonial District victory. The Patriots (2-2, 2-5) had four turnovers and managed just 58 yards total offense. Their only score was a 48-yard punt return by Brian Houchens. Dallas Simmons rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, and placekicker Sarah Bradley booted her fourth field goal in two weeks for Deep Run (3-1, 4-3).

Devonte Derricott ran for two touchdowns and made nine tackles on defense to lead the Patriots over the Eagles. Derricott finished with nine carries for 77 yards, and Jayrin Waller had 16 carries for 85 yards and a TD for Patrick Henry (2-1 Colonial, 2-4), which totaled 226 yards of offense. Derek Whitaker made 19 carries on 79 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown run for Mills Godwin (1-2, 2-4).
