Hanover Thomas A. Shepley has been hired as the director of the Pamunkey Regional Library, replacing Fran Freimarck, who retired this month after 32 years as director. Shepley is a library services administrator for Chesterfield County Public Library and has more than 13 years of experience in library systems in four states. His new duties begin Wednesday. The Pamunkey Regional Library has branches in Hanover, Goochland, King William and King and Queen counties.

Hopewell The Hopewell Recreation and Parks Department will hold youth soccer registration and several youth clinics this month. Registration will continue until Aug. 22 at the Hopewell Community Center. A youth soccer clinic will be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Atwater Soccer Complex, conducted by Wade Nye, Hopewell High School soccer coach. Another clinic, sponsored by the Hopewell Quarterback League, will take place Aug. 12-13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hopewell High School practice field. It will be conducted by Marshall Parker, Hopewell High’s football coach.

Powhatan The Powhatan County Board of Supervisors will hold a workshop tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the county library in the large conference room. Included on the agenda are a cash proffer resolution and a discussion on the comprehensive plan. Chesterfield The Chesterfield County school system’s free supply store for teachers, From Crayons to Computers, in the Spring Rock Green shopping center at Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway, is accepting donations. The store staff will pick up donated items including furniture, office and classroom supplies, and computers. Teachers come to the store and take what they need free of charge.
