Hopewell Councilman Curtis W. Harris will hold a ward meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at the Municipal Building, 300 N. Main St. The meeting will focus on the future of a proposed ethanol plant near downtown. City Manager Edwin C. Daley and his staff will be present to take questions on the plant. Fort Lee Motivational speaker Theresa Sareo will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Stadium at Fort Lee as part of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Week. It is open to the public. Sareo, also a singer and songwriter, will talk about her journey of survival and coping with being hit by an impaired driver in 2002 and losing her right leg. A concert with gospel singer Rebecca St. James will follow the presentation.

Henrico Fairfield District Supervisor Frank J. Thornton has been appointed to the charter and bylaws committee of the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission. His one-year term on the committee began Wednesday. The commission is a multijurisdictional planning agency that works to develop cooperative policies on such regional issues as transportation, water resources and solid-waste planning. The commission serves the city of Richmond, town of Ashland and counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan. Thornton is serving a four-year term on the commission.

  Winery: Michlits W. GmbH, Austria
  Composition: 70 percent Zweigelt, 30 percent Blaufrankisch
  Description: Soft berry aromas lead to a nicely balanced red wine that has dominant flavors of cherries and dark berries with some spice. Smooth drinking. Soft tannins. Drink just below room temperature or about 65 degrees. Shelf life of 1-2 years. 13.5 percent alcohol.
