McGurn, Balch reach VSGA Senior Women’s quarterfinals
Boodie McGurn, the 2004 champion, and Maggie Balch of Maidens are the Richmond-area players remaining in the Virginia State Golf Association Senior Women’s Amateur tournament at The Homestead Resort’s Old Course. McGurn, a Country Club of Virginia member, advanced to this morning’s quarterfinal matches with a 2-and-1 victory over 2005 champion Shelley Savage of Alexandria yesterday. McGurn’s quarterfinal opponent is Mimi Hoffman of Springfield, the 2006 winner.
