Football: Powhatan 35, Southampton 7
Landon Bradley picked up 170 yards on 21 carries and snagged an interception in No. 7 Powhatan’s homecoming rout of Southampton (1-2 Southside). Powhatan’s Shawn more punched in two rushing TDs. Darius Nash (10 tackles, one for loss), Joey Blanco (9 tackles, one for loss) and Colin Christovich (8 tackles) led the Powhatan (3-0, 6-0) defense.

EMPORIA—Landon Bradley rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Indians to a Southside District victory. Bradley scored on runs of 40, 60 and 2 yards. Shawn Minor added 68 yards and a touchdown on eight carries and had three interceptions on defense. He returned one 30 yards for a touchdown. Powhatan (2-0 Southside, 5-0) got nine tackles from Josh Morris and Darius Nash had eight tackles and a sack as it held Greensville County (0-2, 0-5) to 126 total yards, including just 37 on the ground.

Landon Bradley finished with 13 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and the Indians cruised past the Cougars. Bradley ran for scores of 14 and 50 yards for Powhatan, which had 29 rushes for 257 yards. Shawn Minor passed for two TDs, ran for a 31-yard score and returned an interception 18 yards for a touchdown for the Indians (1-0 Southside, 4-0).

Landen Bradley led a punishing ground attack with 130 yards and three touchdowns as the Indians routed the Cavaliers in a non-district matchup. Powhatan rolled up 381 yards and eight touchdowns on 34 carries in cruising to the win. Shawn Minor (160 total yards) struck for two scores in the first quarter and Ray Brown capped the night with touchdowns in his only carries.

Shawn Minor accounted for four touchdowns and the Indians defense held the Mustangs (1-2) to 140 yards in an easy victory. Minor dominated proceedings in the first half, rushing for three scored and 110 yards and throwing for 111 yards and 1 touchdown. Landon Bradley paced the Indians’ ground game with 131 yards and two scores on 15 carries. Powhatan rolled up 400 yards rushing and 511 total.

POWHATAN—Landon Bradley ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and the Powhatan defense held visiting Midlothian to 106 yards total offense in an opening night victory. The teams played each other for the first time since 1985. Bradley carried all six times for 66 yards for the Indians’ first TD. Dion Berry contributed 74 yards on eight carries.
